The vineyard is owned by the Lafon family, who works in close partnership with the Milhade family.
Mr Lafon was the chief financial officer of the Milhade company for over 40 years.
The vineyard is mostly Merlot (80%) as well as Cabernet (10%) and Pressac (10%), also known as Malbec. Since the 2013 Millésime, the wine is only composed of Merlot.
Vinification is done traditionally in stainless steel tanks with short and regular pumping and a 3 week maceration period is needed.
The wine is aged in oak barrels for 12 months, making it a tannic and fruity wine with a round palate. It gives off aromas of wood and red fruits, just like all great wines of old tradition.
The annual production is 60 000 bottles.
The wine from Château Haut Saint Martin has received several medals including the gold medal in Paris in 2012, and silver medals in Brussels in 2005 and Bordeaux in 2006.
